RBI maintains status quo, keeps repo rate unchanged at 6.5% with focus on withdrawal of accommodation

The RBI's Monetary Policy Committee held the repo rate at 6.5 percent unchanged for the third day in a row on Thursday.

Analysts predicted that the central bank will likely retain the current repo rate pause. This position is motivated by worries about inflation and the need to maintain a constant borrowing rate in order to retain economic growth momentum.

The borrowing cost, which increased in May of the previous year, has now levelled off. The RBI has kept the repo rate at 6.5 percent since February, after raising it from 6.25 percent previously. The benchmark rate was then maintained in subsequent policy reviews in April and June.
