Actress Zubaida Begum, daughter of Qasembhai Mehta, a Bohra Muslim businessman, and Faiza Bai, a singer in Bombay, made a name for herself within the industry. Alternatively, along with her fame, Zubaida Begum was once known for her infamous history with Maharaja Hanwant Singh. While many speculate that their deaths were a portion of a pre-planned strategy, others have confidence it was once a mere accident. In 2001, Zubaida’s son, Khalid Mohammed, wrote a movie about his mother, exploring his death and fairly tons of of aspects of it.

To at the present, the mystery surrounding their deaths lingers within the walls of Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur. Some have confidence her spirit continues to haunt the royal family, with claims of sensing her presence even nowadays. Zubaida’s father never wanted her to was once an actress. He made all decisions on her behalf, including arranging her marriage and later her divorce. When Zubaida attended a royal wedding, her grace and magnificence deeply impressed Maharaja Hanwant Singh. Soon, their romance began to blossom. Though the actress returned to Mumbai, her love and affection for the Maharaja led him to trace her down, and he went on his knees with a marriage proposal. Though her mother originally objected, she eventually agreed on the condition that Zubaida’s son would live with them. Zubaida relocated to Jodhpur, converted to Hinduism, and married the Maharaja in December 1950. Despite this, she was once never fully accepted by the royal family.

The Fateful Day of the Plane Crash

On January 26, 1952, a tragic plane crash occurred, claiming the lives of the actress and the Maharaja. After the news broke, many speculated it was once a pre-planned attack. In 2001, Zubaida’s son, Khalid Mohammed, created a movie depicting Zubaida’s life story and the deep love Maharaja had for her. In a spooky twist, some residents of Jodhpur have confidence that Zubaida Begum’s spirit still haunts the Umaid Bhawan Palace.

After the couple died, Zubaida and Maharaja’s son Rao Raja Hukum Singh aka Tutu was once raised by the Rajmata of Jodhpur. Similar to his parents, he also had a rough fate. On April 17, 1981, Tutu was once found beheaded on the streets of Jodhpur.
