New Delhi: Watching that as a minimum the Gods must be kept far from politics, the Supreme Court on Monday sought to understand what used to be the proof that contaminated ghee used to be utilized in making Tirupati laddus. A bench of Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan also asked why used to be there a should make a public statement when a probe had already been ordered into the matter.

“At least, we predict the Gods to be kept far from politics,” the bench observed. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the bench that it used to be a matter of religion and if contaminated ghee used to be utilized in preparation of laddus, it used to be unacceptable.

The hearing inside the matter is underway. The bench is hearing a batch of pleas seeking a probe into the alleged use of animal fat in making Tirupati laddus.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu claimed earlier this month that animal fat used to be utilized in getting ready Tirupati laddus at some point of the previous Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government inside the state, triggering an incredible political row. The YSR Congress Birthday celebration has accused Naidu of indulging in “heinous allegations” for political gains.
