When it comes to cricket, Virat Kohli stands tall, in terms of his reach, records and hunger. Tech giant Google has now revealed its list of the most searched topics in its 25-year history. It is being learnt that Kohli has claimed the top spot on the list of most searched cricketers in Google’s history. Kohli surpassed legendary Indian cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Kapil Dev to achieve this feat.

While Virat Kohli led the charts among cricketers, he did not occupy the top spot when it comes to the most searched athlete. That record was set by another global icon, legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar, at the age of 38, is currently representing Saudi football club Al Nassr.

At 35, Virat Kohli is widely regarded as one of the cricketing greats. He is fourth in the list of all-time leading run-scorers in international cricket, across all three formats of the game. Kohli has so far scored 26,532 runs in 518 matches in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. His average in international cricket stands at 54.36. Kohli has till now registered 80 centuries and 138 half-centuries.

Virat Kohli was adjudged player of the tournament in the recently concluded ODI World Cup where he finished as the leading run-scorer. He was in top form having scored 765 runs in 11 matches at an average of 95.62 and with a strike rate of 90.32.

Google shared a video on Monday, showcasing a comprehensive compilation of the most searched topics in its 25-year history. The topics were diverse including genres such as sports, entertainment, politics, and viral trends.

What else did India search for?

Google also revealed its compilation of the most searched topics in India so far this year. The Indian Premier League (IPL) claims the top spot as the most searched sports topic in 2023. It was well above the Cricket World Cup and Asia Cup in search queries. Apart from this, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) captured the fourth spot in the rankings, with the Asian Games following closely as the fifth most-searched topic.
