Virat Kohli’s elder brother rejects rumours surrounding mother’s health

Virat Kohli’s elder brother, Vikas, took to his Instagram account to refute rumours that have been doing the rounds about their mother Saroj Kohli’s health. Vikas spoke about the misinformation and asserted that their mother is in good health and urged both fans and media to refrain from spreading unverified news. He also talked about the importance of sharing verified information and expressed gratitude for everyone’s concern.

There were speculations around Saroj Kohli’s health when Virat Kohli took a break from the first two Tests against England. But Vikas clarified on Instagram that such reports were baseless.

“I have noticed that there is this fake news about our mom’s health been circulating around. Let me clear that our mom is absolutely fit and fine. Also I would request everyone and also the media, not to spread such news without proper information. Thanks everyone for your concern,” Vikas wrote on Instagram.

Despite several conjectures doing the rounds, there has been no official update about the reason behind Kohli not taking part in the first two Test matches. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had previously asked fans and media to respect the former captain’s privacy and discouraged rumour mongering.

Rajat Patidar replaced Virat Kohli in the squad ahead of the first Test but he did not make it to the playing XI. KL Rahul walked in at number four and made a valuable contribution in the first innings. Rahul too has now been ruled out due to injury issues. The selectors named Sarfaraz Khan as a replacement in the India Test squad.

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja too has been ruled out of the second Test owing to a tight hamstring. This will be the first time in more than 12 years that both Kohli and Jadeja will not be playing in a Test match. India will have to bounce back in order to draw level in the series in Vizag after England produced a remarkable performance to win the opening contest in Hyderabad.
