It was a special day for King Charles III and his family as he celebrated his 75th birthday with closed ones and some celebrities. Queen Camilla was by his side for the occasion. There was a local choir to sing the Happy Birthday song for the monarch and he was all smiles after he cut his three-tiered Victoria sponge cake. The celebrations happened at Highgrove home in Gloucestershire.
Celebrity attraction at the celebrations
Celebrity chef Raymond Blanc, The Repair Shop host Jay Blades and singer Leee John from the 1980s group Imagination were some of the invitees on the list.
Blades, who is also an ambassador for the King’s foundation, said while paying tribute to the monarch, “He’s the new King but he’s also about community, he’s always been about community, always been forward thinking about what we’re doing about the environment but also including community members.”
He added, “So to have this group of people here, that’s just unbelievable – that’s part of him, that’s what he does.”
Singer Leee John was accompanied by his 96-year-old mother Jessie Stephens.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle not on the guest list: Reports
Buckingham Palace expert and royal commentator Neal Sean said in a statement that the royal family is unfazed by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s absence on the King’s special day.
“Let’s be very clear, most senior members of the British monarchy are more than relieved by the news that the two former royals known as Harry and Meghan are simply not going to be returning for the birthday celebrations of his Majesty, The King,” Sean told Fox News.
Other plans of King Charles III
With Queen Camilla at his side, Charles will visit a project that helps feed those in need by redistributing food that might otherwise go to landfills. Then he’ll host a party for 400 nurses and midwives, saluting the National Health Service’s own 75th birthday. For good measure, the king appears on the cover of this month’s Big Issue, which gives marginalized people the opportunity to earn money by selling the magazine on the street.
It’s the sort of day that’s been typical of the king’s first 14 months on the throne.
