'Welcome to count my shoes...': Mahua Moitra on CBI probe into 'cash for query'

A CBI probe has been ordered against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra into the alleged corruption case. The investigation has been ordered by anti-corruption body Lokpal on Wednesday.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said the Lokpal has ordered a CBI probe against Mahua Moitra on his complaint of alleged corruption by her.

“On my complaint, Lokpal today ordered a CBI inquiry against accused Mahua Moitra for indulging in corruption at the cost of national security,” Dubey said

Reacting to the report of CBI investigation against her, Mahua Moitra said: "Then CBI welcome to come, count my shoes."

The order of CBI investigation against TMC MP Mahua Moitra comes days after Dubey accused her of accepting cash and gifts from businessman Darshan Hiranandani to ask questions in the Lok Sabha to target the Adani Group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP MP also claimed that Mahua Moitra has also comprised national security by sharing her parliamentary login with businessman Darshan Hiranandani.

Dubey had cited ‘evidence’ furnished by Mahua Moitra's former friend Jai Anant Dehadrai and claimed Hiranandani would post questions directly in Parliament using her login credentials to target the Adani Group and PM Modi.

Moitra has denied the charge of receiving any pecuniary benefit.

The matter is being looked into by the Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha.

The complain was filed by Dubey to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla who referred the complaint to the ethics panel.
