World Cup 2023: Glenn Maxwell to miss England match due to freak golf cart accident

Glenn Maxwell is set to miss Australia’s World Cup 2023 match against England after suffering a concussion. The Australian all-rounder suffered a concussion after he fell off the back of a golf court. The incident took place in Ahmedabad on Monday where the Australia team is currently stationed amid their week-long break between the World Cup games.

Maxwell was riding on the back of a golf cart when he fell off and suffered a concussion and bruises. Cricket Australia has confirmed that no one else was hurt in the incident but Maxwell will miss the England game on 4 November due to concussion protocols. Australia have not asked for a replacement and they are hopeful Maxwell will soon be back in action.

Maxwell’s latest accident incident comes after a freak leg injury he suffered in November last year when he broke his leg after slipping while running. The injury kept him out of action for a while.

The 35-year-old has been in top form for the Aussies in World Cup 2023. He has scored 196 runs in six matches and has also taken four wickets. His knock of 106 against Netherlands in which he only took 49 balls to get to his century helped him create the record for fastest ton in men’s ODI World Cups. Meanwhile, Australia have won four out of six matches so far and are fourth in the points table.
