Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami, along with Shreyas Iyer, played important roles in India’s 70-run victory over New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ICC World Cup. APCaptain Kane Williamson helped New Zealand fight back by forging a solid 181-run third-wicket stand with Daryl Mitchell, contributing with 69 runs himself. APDaryl Mitchell would go on to bring up his second century of the tournament, both coming against India, and would eventually depart for a 119-ball 134. APWhile Shami was the pick of India’s bowlers, the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav also chipped in with wickets. APMohammed Shami finished with figures of 7/57, the best by an Indian at the ICC World Cup.
