18 dead after rocks fall on bus in Himachal Pradesh, rescue ops underway
The bus accident in Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh took place near Ballu Bridge after a massive amount of mud fell on a bus.

Himachal Pradesh bus accident: In a shocking update from Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh, a private bus was hit by a landslide the Tuesday evening. As a result of the accident, eighteen people have been reportedly dead. Also, the local administration has reached the spot for relief and rescue operations. As per media reports, the accident took place near Ballu Bridge of Bilaspur after a massive amount of mud and rocks cascaded down the hillside and crashed onto the vehicle.
According to officials, three people were rescued and taken to the hospital, while a search operation is underway to find others trapped under the debris. As per media reports, it is currently unclear how many passengers were on board the private bus. Also, a video from the scene shows several locals trying to rescue trapped passengers, while a JCB machine is engaged in removing the debris.
CM Sukku expresses grief over accident
“The news of the devastating landslide near Balughat (Bhalla Bridge) in the Jhanduta Assembly constituency of Bilaspur district has shaken me to the core. In this massive landslide, tragic news has come of 10 people losing their lives after a private bus was caught in it, and there is apprehension that several others may be trapped under the debris. Rescue operations are ongoing at a war footing”, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukku has expressed grief over the loss of lives.
“I am in touch with the local administration and am continuously receiving moment-by-moment updates on the entire rescue operation. May God grant peace to the departed souls and provide strength to the grieving families. In this difficult time, I stand with all the affected families,” CM Sukku added.
PM Modi expresses grief over accident
“Saddened by the loss of lives due to a mishap in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. My thoughts are with the affected people and their families during this difficult time. An ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000,” PMO tweeted.
