6 killed, over 50 injured after two buses collide head-on in Tamil Nadu’s Tenkasi

The injured were taken to the Tenkasi Government Hospital in over 20 ambulances. Doctors say that the condition of some are in a very serious condition.

6 killed, over 50 injured after two buses collide head-on in Tamil Nadu’s Tenkasi

A major road accident took place near Kadayanallur in Tenkasi district today when two private buses crashed head-on. Six people, including five women, lost their lives in the accident. More than 50 passengers, including children, were injured.

At least 55 people were travelling in the two buses when the accident occurred. The injured have been reportedly been admitted to the hospital with severe injuries, including fractures to their arms, legs, and head.

The accident happened when a private bus going from Madurai to Senkottai and another bus travelling from Tenkasi to Kovilpatti crashed into each other, according to NDTV. The crash was so strong that both buses were badly damaged. Soon after, local officials and firefighters reached the spot and carried out a large rescue operation.

The crash was very severe, and the front part of one bus was crushed badly. Videos from the area showed broken glass all over the road. Traffic slowed down as local people and rescue teams gathered at the spot. A JCB machine was also used to clear the damaged vehicles.

Police said one bus was travelling from Madurai to Tenkasi, and the other was going towards Kadaiyanallur when the accident happened. Five women and one man died at the scene.

Officers are now investigating what caused the crash.
