9 children killed by Pakistani air strikes in Afghanistan, Taliban vows massive retaliation

New Delhi: The Pakistani Air Force has killed 9 Afghan children in airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Khosht, Paktika, and Kunar provinces. Following the Pakistani airstrikes, Taliban government spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid strongly condemned the attack and called it a violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty. He stated that this latest attack by Pakistan will be met with a befitting reply. Zabiullah stated that it is a legitimate right to defend one’s country’s airspace, land, and people. Zabiullah did not specify when the Pakistani attack would be responded to, but stressed that it must be timely.

Pakistan attacked Khost, Paktika, and Kunar provinces

Zabiullah stated that Pakistan’s attacks in Khost, Paktika, and Kunar provinces are a blatant violation of international standards. He stated that the Pakistani military will gain nothing by carrying out such attacks. This operation will only escalate tensions and expose Pakistan’s current military regime to the world. Ten people, including nine children, were killed in a Pakistani army attack in a residential area of Afghanistan’s Khost province, the Afghan government announced on Tuesday, 25 November 2025. According to officials, the attack occurred shortly after midnight and targeted a resident’s home, renewing concerns of an escalation of hostilities along the border.

Pakistani attack causes heavy losses

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid stated that the attack occurred around 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the Mughalgai area of Gurbuz district in Khost. In a post on the social media platform X, he stated that Pakistani invading forces bombed the home of a local citizen. The attack killed nine children (five boys and four girls) and a woman, and destroyed their home. Mujahid also stated that separate airstrikes in Kunar and Paktika provinces that night injured four civilians.

Fear of fresh round of violence

The latest attack in Khost has raised fears that a new round of violence could erupt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Fighting had briefly subsided after heavy clashes between the two countries in October, but tensions have now escalated again. Previously, on October 9, Pakistan carried out airstrikes in Kabul, Khost, Jalalabad, and Paktika. The Afghan Taliban retaliated. Taliban forces attacked several Pakistani military posts along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border between the nights of October 11 and 12, leading to heavy exchanges.
