After NDA’s big win, Chirag Paswan meets Nitish Kumar, stays silent on Chief Minister pick
Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has emerged as one of the biggest gainers in the Bihar Assembly elections, securing 19 seats, a dramatic jump from just one seat in 2020.
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday, a day after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won a massive victory in the state, securing 202 out of 243 seats. “I met him to congratulate him. The Chief Minister supported our candidates,” Paswan said after the meeting.
Speaking about the NDA’s win, he added, “This is a historic victory under Nitish Kumar’s leadership. A team from LJP (RV) visited him to congratulate him. I am happy that the Chief Minister acknowledged the contribution of every alliance partner. He even supported an LJP (RV) candidate during voting. In my constituency, Alauli, I voted for the JD(U) candidate. This proves that the claims of a rift between JD(U) and LJP (RV) were false.”

When asked who the NDA would choose as the next Chief Minister, Chirag Paswan avoided giving a direct answer.
Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has emerged as one of the biggest gainers in the Bihar Assembly elections, securing 19 seats, a dramatic jump from just one seat in 2020. After the results, Paswan met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and congratulated him on the National Democratic Alliance’s sweeping victory.
“After the Bihar Assembly election results today, I met the Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar Ji, and extended my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for the NDA’s resounding majority,” he posted on X.
Within the NDA, the BJP led the tally with 89 seats, followed closely by JD(U) with 85. The strong performance of alliance partners, including LJP(RV) with 19 seats, HAM with 5, RLM with 4, and a few smaller parties collectively ensured a decisive mandate, giving the coalition 202 out of 243 seats.
Meanwhile, the Opposition suffered a major setback. The Mahagathbandhan crumbled under the NDA surge, with RJD winning just 25 seats, the Congress slipping to 6, and the Left parties managing only 3. The BSP and IIP won one seat each, but the overall Opposition remained far from posing any significant challenge.
