Why we love this deal

The key to surviving a cold winter? Staying warm. And while we can't do much about frigid temperatures or snow, sleet, and wind showing up in the day-to-day forecast, we can be prepared with the proper outdoor apparel. A thick set of gloves, a warm scarf, and a knit hat can certainly help you stay nice and insulated when you step outside during the freezing winter months, but without a quality coat, those extra accessories won't mean much. And although there are a lot of great options on the market to choose from, you won't find one that will keep you quite as warm as a heated (yes, you read that right) jacket. It might sound like one of the more expensive picks when you consider the technology, but if that piqued your interest, you'll be thrilled to know that Amazon is selling one for 38% off right now.

The iHood Heated Puffer Jacket, which usually retails for $130, is only $80. With temperatures feeling awfully cold lately, there's no better time to pick one up for yourself than right now.

Why do shoppers love it?

Electronic hand warmers and heated gloves were one thing, but this jacket is an entirely different avenue for comfort. This puffer, which is made with polyester and nylon fabric, has carbon fiber heating sheet technology that's powered by a rechargeable 12V battery pack to give you extra warmth when your standard coat isn't quite cutting it. With three different temperature levels to choose from, you can set the heat level so that the sheets only warm up to the desired temperature of your choosing. The sheets, which heat up in seconds, are in six different zones, around the front chest, back, neck, and hand and wrist areas, ensuring that when you turn the heated technology on, all areas of your upper body receive the same targeted warmth at the same time. They use HIVE-HeatVault technology, which has a honeycomb structure to create an intense heat-lock system, to warm up the jacket. However, the 4-in-1 switch on the battery pack also allows you to target certain areas if you don't need an all over kind of heat, allowing for a truly customized experience for each person that wears it. When you aren't using it, the battery back sits in a dedicated pocket located along the lower back area of the jacket, so you don't have to worry about it taking up space in the pockets along the side which are great for keeping your hands warm or storing small essentials.

Even without the heat, the jacket itself is quite comfortable, thanks to its thick cotton padding and quilted design that provides insulation. It has a high neckline that zips completely closed right up to the chin area. There's also a detachable hood that adds even more warmth on chillier days, and a removable liner which can be adjusted based on weather conditions. The nylon outer shell is water-resistant and protects against light rain and wind, making it ideal for winter activities and sports. It's even machine washable. You just need to detach the battery pack before throwing it in for a quick cycle. It's also advised you wash it in a laundry bag to protect any of the cables that work with the heating system.

The battery pack can last between three and 10 hours on a full charge, depending on which zones are targeted and which heat levels are being used. It can recharge with the help of a simple Type-C cable and power adapter, both which come with the jacket. It is available starting at sizes Small up through 3X-Large.

Details to know

  • Material: Nylon, polyester and cotton.
  • Sizes: The jacket is available in sizes Small through 3X-Large.
  • Rechargeable: The heating system is powered by a rechargeable 12V battery pack which lasts about three to 10 hours on a full charge, depending on heat level and number of zones being used.
  • Features: The jacket has six heating zones around the front chest, back, neck, hand, and wrist areas. There are three heating levels to choose from and you can specifically target certain areas with heat without engaging all six at the same time.

Shoppers are thrilled with the effectiveness of the jacket's heat technology, and especially like that the hand and wrist area also has a heating system built around it — something they don't see in many other heated jackets. The coat heats up quickly, but is super warm even without using the heating system. Shoppers love that it's extremely warm without being overly bulky or thick, so you can move around easily when wearing it. "Best buy ever," one shopper said.
