Despite that, the movie turned out to be a huge flop. Apart from Amitabh Bachchan, the movie also starred Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Fatima Sana Shaikh in key roles.

According to media reports, Thugs of Hindostan was made for Rs 220 crore. However, when it came to box office collection, the film earned only Rs 151.30 crore in India(BHARAT), as per Sacnilk.

On the other hand, the worldwide collection of Thugs of Hindostan stood at Rs 327.51 crore.

The makers’ hopes were severely dashed, as the result was completely the opposite. In fact, the film’s story was so weak that audiences rejected it after the first day.

It’s worth noting that despite a massive star cast, lavish sets, and a huge budget, the film failed to attract audiences to theaters. The makers suffered losses running into crores. Even today, people remember this film as the biggest flop of Diwali.
