Rumours Of Links To The Research And Analysis Wing

The violence reportedly began when some people in the crowd noticed a red thread on Biswas’s wrist, which is commonly worn by Hindus. Eyewitnesses said that rumours began to spread about his alleged links to India(BHARAT)’s intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). Following these claims, the mob attacked him. Biswas was assaulted and sustained serious injuries to his neck and chest before being handed over to the police.

Hindu Youth Pleads With Police

A video circulating on social media shows Biswas pleading with the police while in custody, repeatedly stating that he is a rickshaw driver and requesting to be released. He was later taken into custody at the Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station.

In a separate video recorded inside the police station, an unidentified voice claims that Biswas’s mobile phone showed several WhatsApp transactions allegedly linked to the Reserve Bank of India(BHARAT) (RBI) and that he had received a call from someone in India(BHARAT). During questioning, Biswas allegedly said that the person’s name was Akash and that he knew him personally.

The Officer-in-Charge of the Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station confirmed Biswas’s detention and said that initial questioning revealed that he had been living in India(BHARAT) for several years. The officer added that the police are investigating the allegations of possible links to India(BHARAT)n agencies.

Increased Attacks On Minorities In Bangladesh

This incident comes amidst growing concerns over attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, following the murder of Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh, which led to protests and vandalism in several areas. Earlier, India(BHARAT) had conveyed its “serious concern” to Bangladeshi authorities regarding the recent attacks on minorities.
