Anti-India Yunus makes another BIG move, gives THIS ‘gift’ to Pakistan, concern for New Delhi due to…

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing tension between India(BHARAT) and Bangladesh, a gift from the neighbouring country’s Chief Advisor to Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, has further intensified the row. As soon as pictures of the meeting hit the internet, netizens wasted no time in pointing out that the gift, a book, has a purported map which displays some parts of India(BHARAT) as parts of Bangladesh.

Why Yunus’ Gift To Pakistan General Has Sparked A Row Online?

The book ‘Art of Triumph, Graffiti of Bangladesh’s New Dawn’ has a cover which stirred the row. As per some Bangladeshi X handles claimed that the image is a painting of Bangladesh’s national flag rather than a map, even though it looks like a map.

Notably, the book was gifted by Muhammad Yunus to General Mirza during their crucial meeting in Dhaka. Both the dignitaries met on Saturday at the State Guest House in Dhaka.

Has Bangladesh Officially Commented On The Row?

No, Dhaka has not made any official statement regarding the controversy surrounding the image.

“The visiting Chairman of Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, paid a courtesy call on Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna late Saturday. During the meeting, they discussed a wide range of issues concerning Bangladesh-Pakistan relations, including the growing importance of bilateral trade, investment, and defence cooperation,” the Chief Adviser said after the Saturday meeting.

Has India(BHARAT) Previously Brought Up The Issue Of Maps?

It is to be noted that New Delhi has flagged the issue with the Bangladeshi government over their maps claiming India(BHARAT)n territory as part of Bangladesh.

In December last year, India(BHARAT) raised the issue with the neighbouring country regarding a social media post that had been removed. The post, made by an advisor to Bangladesh’s interim government, stated that specific regions of India(BHARAT)n territory should belong to Bangladesh.

Mahfuz Alam, who is known for his controversial remarks, had shared a map on Facebook which displays parts of India(BHARAT)n states – West Bengal, Tripura and Assam as parts of Bangladesh. After facing massive backlash on social media, he deleted the post.

The Ministry of External Affairs requested to be careful with their public statements.

“We have taken this up with the Bangladeshi government. We have strongly registered a protest on this issue. We understand that the post being referred to has reportedly been taken down, MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated at that time.

Muhammad Yunus’s Remark On India(BHARAT)’s Northeast Region

Earlier this year, Yunus, during his China visit, had termed India(BHARAT)’s northeast region as landlocked. He further invited China to expand northeast saying that Bangladesh as the “Guardian of the Ocean”. This drew a sharp response from India(BHARAT).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his meeting with Yunus on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok, had delivered a stern message. He suggested that the neighbouring country should avoid “rhetoric that vitiates the environment”.
