iOS vulnerability: Apple has flagged a critical vulnerability in older iOS version running iPhone and iPad devices, which could be exploited by cyber criminals to corrupted the memory installed on your Apple device. The tech giant has urged users to upgrade to the iOS 18.6.2 update, if your iPad or iPhone supports it, as the new update brings important fixes, including the latest vulnerability, that was exploited in a recent attack, according to Apple.

What is the new iOS vulnerability?

As per Apple, the iOS vulnerability, CVE-2025-43300, allows hackers to a process a malicious image file on the device, resulting in memory corruption. The company noted that the vulnerability may have been recently exploited in an “extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals”.

However, the latest iOS 18 update includes security fixes that nullify the vulnerability, that occurs due to an “out-of-bounds write issue”, Apple said.

How to secure  your device?

Apple recommends users with the following devices to update to the latest iOS 18.6.2 update and the iPadOS 18.6.2 update for the iPhone and iPad, respectively, and for Mac users who have devices that support macOS Sequoia 15.6.1, macOS Sonoma 14.7.8, and macOS Ventura 13.7.8.
