Bad news for Dulquer Salmaan fans as Kaantha lands into…

Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming film “Kaantha” is facing a major setback just days before its release. The film, which is based on the life of legendary Tamil actor and singer M.K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, has been slued into a legal controversy.

What has happened?

The trouble began when Thyagaraja Bhagavathar’s grandson, B Thiagarajan, approached a Chennai court seeking a ban on the film’s release. Thiagarajan claims that the film portrays his grandfather in a poor light, showing him as a man with loose morals, blind in later life, impoverished, and forced to beg. He argues that these depictions are entirely false and have been made without the family’s consent.

Thiagarajan’s petition states that his grandfather was a modest, devout, and compassionate man who remained a teetotaller and non-smoker throughout his life. He also points out that his grandfather was financially well-off, owning a bungalow and luxury cars, and did not have any bad habits. The petition seeks a permanent injunction restraining the filmmakers from releasing, screening, distributing, streaming, or otherwise exhibiting the movie. The court has directed the production companies and Dulquer Salmaan to file their replies by November 18, and the hearing has been adjourned.
