Bad news for Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, film lands into legal trouble after…

Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film Dhurandhar has hit a legal hurdle just before its release. The parents of the late Major Mohit Sharma, a brave army officer and Ashoka Chakra awardee, have approached the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on the film. They claim the movie portrays Major Sharma’s life, secret missions, and martyrdom without their consent or approval from the India(BHARAT)n Army.

According to the petition, scenes in the film seem to reflect Major Sharma’s real-life operations, including counter-terrorism missions. The family says these similarities are not coincidental and that the film turns their son, a national hero, into a commercial character.

The issues raised by family

The petition states that showing a martyr’s life on screen without consent violates the family’s rights and dignity. They also claim the film could reveal sensitive military tactics, creating a national security concern. The petition lists the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Central Board of Film Certification, the director, and the production house as respondents. The family has requested a private screening before any public release and asks that future films about martyrs require prior approval from the family and the Army.

The response to Dhurandhar’s origin

The director Aditya Dhar has clarified that Dhurandhar is a work of fiction and not based on Major Sharma’s life. He emphasized that if the makers ever decide to make a biopic, they would do so with full consent from the family. Despite this, the family maintains that the film closely resembles Major Sharma’s life and was made without their permission.

This case highlights important questions about ethics, consent, and respect for real-life heroes. While films are meant to entertain, the lives of martyrs are not just stories, they are legacies of sacrifice. Balancing creative freedom with moral responsibility is key, especially when portraying real heroes.

The trailer hints at a two‑part story, heavy action, and a runtime of roughly three hours and thirty minutes.
