New Delhi: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s health has further deteriorated, and she is reportedly in a very critical condition, according to a close aide of the former Prime Minister. 80-year-old Khaleda Zia was admitted to a hospital on Sunday night, November 23. She has reportedly suffered a chest infection, affecting both her heart and lungs.
Special prayers are being offered for her
Bangladesh’s state-run news agency BSS quoted BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as saying that special prayers are being offered for her. Alamgir said, “Last night, doctors said her condition is extremely critical.” He further said, “After Friday prayers, we have asked people across the country to pray for Begum Khaleda Zia’s recovery. We pray that she recovers and returns to the people and gets the opportunity to work for the country.”
Has been suffering from several health problems
According to some reports, Khaleda Zia has been admitted to the CCU of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka after doctors detected infections in her lungs and heart. According to reports, Zia, the wife of President Ziaur Rahman, has been suffering from several health problems, including liver and kidney problems, diabetes, arthritis, and eye ailments.
May require treatment abroad
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, at a press conference, said that Zia was still “seriously ill”. “The physicians said she may require treatment abroad, but her current physical condition does not permit overseas travel. Doctors will reconsider the matter only if her condition stabilises,” Alamgir said, adding that apart from leading Bangladeshi doctors, specialists from Johns Hopkins in the United States and the London Clinic in the United Kingdom were treating her.
