Big blow to Shehbaz Sharif as India starts exporting medicines to Afghanistan, Taliban government now plans to…, Pakistan set to…

Kabul: Afghanistan’s Taliban government has now begun importing medicines from India(BHARAT) after imposing a ban on Pakistan. To recall, the Taliban administration had banned the import of medicines from Pakistan after accusing Pakistani medicines of being substandard and having adverse effects on Afghan people. Now, representatives of a private firm in Kabul have announced the official start of medicine imports from India(BHARAT) to Afghanistan

As per the X post by Hurriyat Radio English, 25 types of medicines will be imported, with plans to expand the process in the future to meet Afghanistan’s needs. Meanwhile, members of the Afghanistan Pharmaceutical Services Union have confirmed that more than 400 companies are currently involved in importing medicines into the country.

Here are some of the key details:

  • An India(BHARAT)n company has emphasized their commitment to continued cooperation with Afghanistan in the healthcare sector.
  • The Taliban-administered government has imposed a ban on importing medicines from Pakistan
  • Importers in Taliban were advised to look for alternative routes to procure medicines, which led to this concrete initiative to import medicines from India(BHARAT).
  • Pakistani pharmaceutical manufacturing companies used to earn huge profits every year by exporting large quantities of medicines to Afghanistan.
  • The quality of these medicines was substandard.
  • This kept the production cost low for Pakistani companies, but they exported the medicines to Afghanistan at full prices.
  • Due to restrictions imposed by the Taliban government, a major market has closed for Pakistani pharmaceutical companies.
  • In such a situation, Pakistan will have to look for alternative markets, where the cost of delivering goods will be significantly higher compared to Afghanistan.
