Bihar Election Results: The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which secured an emphatic landslide victory in the recently-held Bihar Assembly Election, recorded the highest winning margins in the polls, while seats with lowest margins went to various parties, including NDA constituents.

Which seats saw highest winning margins?

According to Election Commission data, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) won the Rupauli assembly seat with the highest margin of 73,572 votes, with opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) finishing second in the poll race.

Similarly, the BJP, which emerged as the single-largest party with 89 seats in Bihar’s 243-member house, secured the Digha assembly seat by a margin of 59,079, votes, defeating its closest rival from the CPI(ML)(L).

Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP- Ram Vilas), another constituent of the NDA, won the Sugauli seat by a margin of 58,191 votes, defeating the Janshakti Janta Dal candidate who was the runner-up.

In Gopalpur, JD(U) defeated the nearest rival from the VSIP by a margin of 58,135 votes, while, BJP secured the Aurai seat by a margin of 57,206 votes, against Mukesh Sahni’s VSIP, which is a part of the opposition Mahagathbandhan, aka the INDIA bloc, in Bihar.

Who won polls by slimmest margin?

Notably, apart from recording highest-margin wins, the NDA also saw victories where the margin was lowest in the polls. As per EC data, JD(U) secured the Sandesh seat by a wafer-thin margin of 27 votes against the RJD, while BSP defeated the BJP in Ramgarh by a margin of just 30 votes.

The data showed that the five assembly seats which recorded the lowest winning margins, the winners were from the BJP, BSP, JD(U) and RJD.

NDA secures landslide majority in Bihar

Last week, the ruling NDA registered a landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly Election, winning more than 200 seats in the 243-member House, with the BJP emerging as the single-largest party.

In contrast, the opposition Mahagathbandhan led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress, faced a rout in the state, winning just 33 of the 243 seats it had contested, with Congress securing a dismal 6 seats out of the 61 it fought.
