Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol perform the final rites of their father Dharmendra in Haridwar. The emotional moment, captured on video, shows Bobby breaking down during the ritual.
Bollywood mourned as Dharmendra’s ashes were immersed in the sacred Ganges at Har-Ki-Pauri, Haridwar, on a serene Wednesday morning. The late actor’s sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, along with grandson Karan Deol, carried out the final rites in a deeply moving ceremony. Videos shared on social media captured the intensity of their grief: dressed in white, the family appeared visibly emotional as they performed the rituals amid tight security.
The last rites of Dharmendra
The family had arrived in Haridwar a day earlier, staying at a private residence near the banks of the Ganges. Early on Wednesday, they reached a VIP ghat to conduct the “asthi visarjan” (ash immersion) with only a small group present. According to reports, those attending were asked not to share details, a request made to preserve the family’s privacy.
At the ghat, Sunny, Bobby, and Karan gently released the urn containing Dharmendra’s ashes into the Ganges, embracing each other at moments. The emotional weight of the moment was clear: in one video, Bobby Deol breaks down in tears and hugs family members, overwhelmed by grief. Soon after the ritual concluded, the family quietly departed for the airport and left Haridwar, as planned.
