Bomb Threat: Several schools in Delhi on Monday morning received bomb threats via e-mails, warning of bomb attacks. School authorities immediately informed the police, triggering emergency responses. According to police, as many as nine schools received bomb threats, including three schools in South Delhi. The schools reportedly received bomb mails between 8:30 am and 9:00 am. Fire teams and bomb disposal squads were immediately deployed.
After receiving the distress call, police teams, along with firebomb detection teams, reached the spots and initiated an extensive search. The authorities evacuated the school premises as a precautionary measure.
“Bomb threat calls were received at nine schools in Delhi. Delhi Police, fire teams, and bomb disposal squads are present at the spots. In South Delhi, these three schools have received bomb threats till now. All the calls were received between 8:30 am and 9:00 am,” Delhi Police said.
According to officials, the emails mentioned names of several prominent schools such as – Loreto Convent School, Delhi Cantt, Cambridge School, Srinivasanpuri, Venkateshwar School in Rohini, Cambridge School, NFC, The India(BHARAT)n School, Sadiq Nagar, CM School, Rohini, DTA School, INA, Bal Bharati School, Rohini, Air Force School, Lodhi Road, KR Mangalam, and India(BHARAT)n School.
It is to be noted that it is not the first time that such bomb threats have been sent to educational institutions and airports in the capital city. Similar threat mails threatening to explode structures were also received on earlier occasions. However, all of them were declared a hoax. These threats also raise security concerns for the schools and colleges.
