BSNL to Airtel port: Here’s how to port existing BSNL number to Airtel

BSNL to Airtel port: If you are done with BSNL services and want to port to a new telecom operator like Airtel, it’s an easy process. You can initiate MNP (Mobile Number Portability) any time you wish as per the TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) guidelines. Airtel allows customers from other telecom operators like BSNL to switch to Airtel without changing their current number. In this article, we will show you how you can start the BSNL portability process and switch to Airtel online and offline.

How to port BSNL number to Airtel

As usual, there are two ways of porting your BSNL number to Airtel. Let’s see both ways.

Step 1: First, you need to generate a UPC (Unique Porting Code) using the BSNL number that you want to port. To do that, open the Messages app on your phone and compose a new message.

Step 2: Type a message in the following format: PORT your mobile number and send it to 1900. Example – PORT 1234567890. After sending the following message to 1900, your UPC will be generated.  You need to use this code to port from your BSNL number to Airtel.

Step 3: Visit the Airtel website to continue the process: Switch to Airtel Postpaid, Switch to Airtel Prepaid.

Step 4: Enter your name, mobile number, address and all other details. You will also have to select the first plan for your Airtel connection on the same number. There are two plans for prepaid users – Rs 299 for 28 days and Rs 479 for 56 days – and a single first plan for postpaid users – Rs 399/per month. Once you submit all yo select all details and submit. You should receive a call from an Airtel executive regarding delivery of the new SIM Card.

Step 5: Once you receive the SIM at home, you need to insert it in your phone and authenticate it by using ID proof like an Aadhaar card and UPC number that you generated. Once you authenticate, your old number will be ported to Airtel. Calling and SMS services should be activated in a maximum of up to 48 hours.

Other than this, there’s another way of porting your BSNL number to Airtel. If you don’t want to do all the steps shown above, simply generate a UPC number and head to your nearest Airtel Store. The Airtel executive should help you do the entire porting process.
