Through forensic investigation, the NIA has identified the driver who was in the car at the time of the blast.
New Delhi: The NIA (National Investigation Agency) has achieved a major breakthrough in the case of the car bomb blast in Delhi’s Red Fort area. The agency has arrested the person who, along with the suicide bomber, carried out this terrorist plot.
The arrested accused’s name is Aamir Rashid Ali. The car used in the blast was registered in his name. The NIA apprehended him in Delhi. The Delhi Police was initially investigating the blast, but the case was later handed over to the NIA. After taking over the case, the NIA launched a massive search operation, during which Aamir was arrested.
The car was used as an IED
The investigation revealed that Aamir is a resident of Sambura, Pampore, Jammu and Kashmir. He planned the attack in collaboration with a man named Umar Un Nabi from Pulwama. Aamir had come to Delhi to help purchase the car that was later used as an IED for the blast.
Aamir was detained on November 11; however, after extensive interrogation, his role was established, and he was arrested on Sunday, 16 November 2025.
Identification of suicide bomber
Through forensic investigation, the NIA has identified the driver who was in the car at the time of the blast. He has been identified as Umar un Nabi. Umar was a resident of Pulwama and was an assistant professor in the Department of General Medicine at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana. This means that the doctor himself was involved in the terrorist plot.
The NIA has also seized another vehicle belonging to Umar un Nabi. That vehicle is now being examined to gather further evidence. So far, the agency has interviewed 73 witnesses, including those injured in the blast. The blast, which occurred in Delhi on November 10, shook the entire nation.
Coordination with Police of Multiple States
The NIA is investigating the case in collaboration with the Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, and other agencies. The investigating agency is now trying to determine the individuals and organisations involved in the blast and the scale of their conspiracy. The investigation has now spread from state to state.
Investigative agencies say the entire module was highly organised and technically savvy, so the investigation is being carried out at multiple levels. At present, the agencies are avoiding giving any official statement regarding any information because the investigation is still in its initial stage.
9mm-caliber cartridges recovered
Recently, three 9mm-caliber cartridges were recovered from the scene, including two live cartridges and one empty cartridge. These cartridges are prohibited for civilian use, but no weapon remains have been found at the scene so far. Investigating agencies are trying to determine how these cartridges reached there.
