Delhi Red Fort blast: The doctors in the recently-uncovered ‘white-collar’ terror linked to the Delhi Red Fort blast, were radicalized on social media platforms from around 2019, and many of them wanted to fight in conflict-ridden zones like Syria or Afghanistan, but were convinced by their handlers to carry out terrorist bombings in the India(BHARAT)n hinterland, investigation has revealed.
How doctors in ‘white collar’ terror cell were radicalized?
According to investigators, the ‘white collar’ terror cell members, including Dr Muzammil Ganaie, Dr Adeel Rather, Dr Muzzafar Rather and Delhi suicide bomber, Dr Umar-un-Nabi, were spotted by Pakistan-based handlers on social media sites like Facebook and discussion spaces on X.
The handlers, believed to be linked to the proscribed Jaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit, immediately shifted them to private groups on Telegram, where the process of brainwashing and radicalization began as early as 2019, they said.
Doctors wanted to join terror outfits in other countries
The doctors, all of who are from various parts of Kashmir, had initially expressed intent to join terror groups in conflict zones like Syria or Afghanistan, but were later refrained by their handlers who asked them to continue in India(BHARAT) and carry out multiple blasts in the hinterland, they said.
As per officials, the members of the terror cell used readily-available bombmaking tutorials on YouTube to learn how to make Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) for carrying out terror attacks across India(BHARAT), adding that digital footprints have identified the primary handlers as ‘Ukasa’, ‘Faizan’ and ‘Hashmi’, all of whom have been operating from outside India(BHARAT) and their names often crop up in inputs related to the Jaish-e-Mohammed terror network.
