Delhi CM revises working hours for government employees due to…., offices will open at…; check new timings
CM Rekha Gupta has revised office timings for Delhi government and MCD employees.
Delhi working hours: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday announced revised working hours for Delhi government employees and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) workers, in wake of deteriorating air quality in the national capital.
What are the new Delhi office timings?
An official release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said Delhi government and MCD employees will now follow staggered working hours from November 15, 2025 to February 15, 2026, in view of city high pollution levels. From November 15, Delhi government offices would function from 10 am to 6.30 pm, while MCD offices will open at 8:30 am till 5 pm, the statement said.
As per the statement, the decision to revise office timings was taken because currently there is only a 30-minute gap between the two schedules, due to which the capital city experiences heavy traffic congestion both in the morning and the evening, aggravating the city’s air pollution.
At present Delhi government offices open at 9.30 am till 6 pm, while MCD offices function from 9 am to 5.30 pm.
Delhi becomes India(BHARAT)’s most polluted city as AQI dips
The government’s decision comes as Delhi recorded the worst air quality in the country on Friday, with the 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI), plummeting to 322 at 4 PM, placing the capital in the ‘red zone’, and making it the country’s most polluted city, as per data released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
Of the 38 monitoring stations in the capital, 29 reported air quality in the ‘very poor’ category, with readings above 300, according to data from the CPCB’s Sameer app. PM2.5 remained the key pollutant on Friday.
The Decision Support System (DSS) for air quality forecast estimated that stubble burning contributed 8.6 per cent to Delhi’s pollution and predicted that the share would rise to 30.9 per cent on Saturday and 31.2 per cent on Sunday.
Satellite data showed that on Thursday, a total of 351 stubble-burning incidents were detected in Punjab, 35 in Haryana, and 200 in Uttar Pradesh.
