Delhi govt comes up with discount on challan, here’s what you need to know about the transport department’s new proposal
Delhi transport minister Kailash Gahlot said the discount will be given under specific sections of the Special Motors Vehicle Act. Gahlot said the proposal has been submitted to Lieutenant Governor Vinay Saxena for his approval. The minister said that the government wants to reduce the number of pending challans.
The Delhi government has made up our minds to present a reduction on challan to the traffic violators. The transport department has asked them to pay the challan in time so that you will get a reduction of fifty% . The proposal is aimed to assemble pending challan from the violators.

Gahlot said the proposal has been submitted to Lieutenant Governor Vinay Saxena for his approval. The minister said that the government desires to decrease the collection of pending challans.
As per proposal, a violator will pay best 50 percent of the challan for traffic violations if he will pay the amount within Ninety days, but for the fresh violation , the time period shall be reduced to 30 days, once the proposal comes into effect.
Some violations have been excluded within the proposal. Violators who will get the discounts consist of rash driving, racing on side road sans permission, invalid driving licence and driving uninsured vehicle.
