Delhi-Mumbai expressway gets helicopter service, to ensure life-saving ‘Golden Hour’ response, service now available in…

One of India(BHARAT)’s busiest expressways, the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, has now started a helicopter airlift service to help road accident victims get medical treatment within the “golden hour.” This new service will not only save many lives but also boost tourism in the region. Passengers on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway can now use this modern air service, which helps them avoid traffic jams on the road. The service has started from a helipad built near the Pinan rest area in Rajasthan’s Alwar district, on a 125-km stretch of the expressway.

The main purpose of this helicopter service is to give quick medical help to people injured in road accidents. Usually, ambulances take time to reach the accident spot on the expressway. But this helicopter can pick up the injured person immediately and take them to a hospital within the “golden hour,” which is the most critical time for treatment.

According to the company operating the service, the new facility will save valuable time during accidents and help save many lives. It offers a safe, fast, and modern transport option on the expressway.

The second phase of this service will soon begin with support from the Rajasthan Tourism Department, and its main goal will be to promote tourism.

In this phase, travellers will be offered helicopter joy rides and aerial tours. Tourists will be able to enjoy breathtaking views of the Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary, the Aravalli mountain range, and major historical sites in the region—all from the sky. This move is expected to boost helicopter tourism in Rajasthan and create new income opportunities for the local tourism industry.

The helipad built at the Pinan rest area meets international safety standards. It can park up to eight helicopters at the same time. For night-time operations, the helipad has high-intensity lights and an advanced navigation system for pilots. A waiting lounge for passengers and a dedicated control room for emergencies have also been set up.

Why is this helicopter service needed?

The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is one of India(BHARAT)’s busiest and fastest highways. Every day, thousands of vehicles travel at very high speeds, which also increases the chance of serious accidents. In any road accident, the first hour is called the “golden hour.” If an injured person gets quick and proper treatment during this time, their chances of surviving are much higher.

But on such a long and high-speed expressway, ambulances often take time to reach the accident spot. Heavy traffic, long distances, or blocked routes can delay them. Because of this, many injured people do not get treatment in time.

The helicopter service helps solve this problem. It can reach the accident site quickly, airlift the injured person, and take them straight to a hospital, saving precious minutes and saving many lives.

At present, a total of eight helipads are planned along the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway. The service has been launched first at Pinan in Alwar district, and will gradually be expanded to other rest areas. This is a major step towards improving safety and convenience for travellers on the expressway.
