From his rugged charm in Sholay to his romantic persona in Phool Aur Patthar, to even today, at the age of 89, the legendary star continues to make headlines.
Dharmendra’s Humble Beginnings
Dharmendra began his Bollywood career in 1960, at the age of 25, with the film Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere. But before stepping into the world of the limelight, he worked at a garage and a drilling firm in Mumbai. It was around this time that he bought his first car a Fiat, which would later become a cherished part of his life.
How much did Dharmendra pay for his first car?
In a nostalgic Instagram post shared on 11 October 2021, the actor introduced fans to his first car, calling it “meri pyari bacchi” (my beloved child). Dharmendra revealed, “Doston, Fiat meri pehli car thi… ek struggler ke liye Ishwar ka bada aashirwad.” In a video message, he added with a smile, “Namaskar doston, yeh meri pehli car hai. Maine ise sirf 18,000 rupaye mein kharida tha. Un dino 18 hazaar rupaye bahut badi baat thi.” The actor’s affection was evident as he urged fans to pray that the car “hamesha mere saath rahe.”
From Fiat to Mercedes
Over the decades, Dharmendra’s garage has transformed from a humble Fiat to a fleet of luxury cars. His impressive collection includes Audi A8, Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Land Rover Range Rover, and Mercedes SL500. Today, with a net worth of approximately Rs 450 crore, the veteran actor enjoys a lavish lifestyle but remains grounded in his roots.
