‘Do you consider Trump a dictator’? Media asks Mamdani in US President’s presence; what happened next…
Trump clearly stated that both leaders have the same goal, to make New York a great city again.
New Delhi: US President Doland Trump and New York City’s newly elected Mayor Zohran Mamdani met for the first time at the White House on Friday, November 21. The two leaders also spoke to the media after the meeting. The media asked Mamdani if he still considered Trump a fascist (dictator). Trump replied, “No problem, just say yes. It’s easier than explaining. I don’t care.”
Very special moment
The reporter asked why Mamdani had been questioning carbon emissions, so why did he fly to Washington? Trump replied, “Mamdani works very hard and his coming here was necessary, and there’s nothing wrong with that.”
This moment was special because the two had exchanged harsh remarks against each other during the New York mayoral election. Trump had called Mamdani a “communist lunatic” and a “jihadi,” while Mamdani had called Trump a “dictator” and a “fascist.”
Trump no longer considers Mamdani jihadi
A reporter asked Trump if Republican leader Elise Stefanik had called Mamdani a “jihadi.” “Does Trump also believe that?” Trump replied without hesitation, “No, I don’t.”
Trump further stated that during their meeting, he found Mamdani to be a calm, sensible, and logical person. He said, “I’ve met a person who speaks very intelligently.”
I’ll be happy if Mamdani does a good job: Trump
Trump said, “We want to make New York great again. The better Mamdani does, the happier I’ll be.” Trump even said that Mamdani will surprise many conservatives and that some of his views are similar to his own.
Mamdani also described the meeting as productive, saying, “We discussed rent, food, electricity bills, and the rising cost of living. We both want to make life affordable for New York’s 8.5 million residents.”
Our goal is to make New York a better city: Trump
Trump said that while they may have different opinions on some issues, discussions will certainly lead to solutions. Trump said that either Mamdani will convince him, or he will convince Mamdani, but ultimately, the decision will be what is best for New York.
Trump clearly stated that both leaders have the same goal: to make New York a great city again. He said that if Mamdani performs brilliantly and brings positive change to the city, he will be most pleased.
I want Mamdani to succeed: Trump
When reporters asked Trump if he would like to live in New York under Mamdani’s leadership, Trump immediately replied, “Yes, absolutely, especially after meeting him.”
Trump said that after the meeting, he felt Mamdani could do good work for the city. He said that he wants Mamdani to succeed because New York’s success is important to both of them.
