Earthquake of 6 magnitude strikes Myanmar, strong tremors felt in Kolkata, Dhaka; No casualties reported yet

New Delhi: An earthquake of 6 magnitude has struck Myanmar on Tuesday, February 3, at around 9 PM. Strong tremors have been felt in Kolkata, West Bengal, and Dhaka, Bangladesh. The earthquake struck 70 miles east of Akyab in Myanmar, says EMSC data.
According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres.
Due to the sudden tremors at night, people living in high-rise buildings in Kolkata panicked and rushed to open spaces. Although no official reports of major damage or casualties have been received so far, the administration is monitoring the situation.
This was the third earthquake in Myanmar in the last 71 hours. The epicenter of the earthquake was located in Myanmar, where it registered a magnitude of 5.9-6. The affected countries include Bangladesh, India(BHARAT), and Myanmar. The epicenter was near Sidoktaya, about 30 km from Myanmar. Currently, there are no reports of casualties.
