Elvish Yadav opens up on NGO Scam Allegations, says he never charges money to help others: ‘Bahaana chahiye…’

YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav has finally addressed the NGO scam allegations that recently sparked a heated debate on social media. In a strongly worded video message, Elvish denied all claims of wrongdoing and made it clear that he does not charge money for promoting causes related to social welfare or medical aid.

The controversy began after Elvish shared a video urging his followers to help a family whose child is suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a rare condition that requires an expensive injection costing around Rs 9 crore. While the appeal initially received support, the narrative changed soon after.

How did the controversy begin?

A day after Elvish’s post, comedian and Bigg Boss winner Munawar Faruqui shared Instagram stories talking about NGOs allegedly paying influencers to make emotional donation appeals. Though Munawar did not name Elvish directly, social media users were quick to connect the dots, leading to accusations and online chatter aimed at the YouTuber.

As speculation intensified, Elvish decided to respond publicly.

What did Elvish Yadav say in his defence?

In a video shared on Saturday, Elvish dismissed the allegations outright and expressed frustration over being dragged into controversies unnecessarily. “You might have noticed that I stay away from controversies. I don’t comment on others,” he said, adding that he was shocked to see claims suggesting he took money in the name of charity.

Clarifying his stand, Elvish stated, “First of all, I don’t take money for helping anyone. If someone is giving me money, then what help do they need?” He stressed that he is financially secure and has no reason to indulge in scams for monetary gain.

Elvish further explained that the appeal was shared only after a close friend approached him with proper documentation related to the child’s treatment. According to him, the fundraiser was also listed on Milaap, and all relevant medical details, doctor credentials, and tracking information were available publicly.

“This was not a random post. They came with proper papers, doctors’ names were mentioned, and the campaign was already verified,” he said, calling the allegations baseless and hurtful.

Why did Elvish mention transparency?

The YouTuber emphasised that the donation drive was transparent, with clear NGO details, barcodes, and fund tracking options accessible to the public. He reiterated that he does not believe in scams and questioned why people were so quick to assume the worst.

“By God’s grace, I earn well from my shows and work. Doing scams for such small things is not my habit,” Elvish said, urging people to focus on their own work instead of pulling others down.

What was Munawar Faruqui’s stand?

Munawar Faruqui, meanwhile, shared his own experience through Instagram stories, recounting an incident from his Amsterdam tour. He revealed that a company had approached his team to promote a fundraising campaign for a child, offering payment in return. Munawar said he refused, calling out the practice and raising questions about where the funds actually go.

While Munawar maintained that he intended to spread awareness, the timing of his post led many to believe it was an indirect dig at Elvish.

As the debate continues online, Elvish Yadav remains firm on his stand, asserting that his intentions were genuine and that helping someone in need should not automatically be viewed with suspicion.
