Esha Deol & Bharat Takhtani's divorce was 'brewing for a while', family source reveals Hema Malini is by daughter's side

Esha Deol, the daughter of veteran actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini, recently took everyone by surprise after announcing her separation from her husband Bharat Takhtani. In a joint statement issued earlier this month, it was confirmed that the couple “mutually and amicably” decided to part ways after 12 years of marriage.

While this came as an unexpected piece of news for fans, it seems like the actress’s close circle was pretty much aware that it “was brewing for a while.” According to the latest reports, the couple decided to part ways quite early; however, they were waiting for the right time to make an announcement.

Zoom Entertainment stated in a report that their divorce had been “brewing” for quite sometime. “It was brewing for a while. Esha and her husband had decided to part ways for some time now. They were just waiting for the right time to announce. Now that it is out of the way, Esha is moving on with her life,” the report revealed while citing a close source.

The report also revealed that there is no stress in the family, however, the family needs the media to stop trying to sniff out a scoop, especially from the actress’ mother, Hema Malini.

“She is certainly not commenting on her daughter’s decision to divorce her husband. It is Esha’s matter, and Hemaji will not interfere. She is with her daughter now and has always been. But she is not accountable for her daughter’s actions,” the source added.

On 7 February, the couple in a joint statement officially confirmed that they are parting ways after 12 years of marriage.

“We have mutually and amicably decided to part ways. Through this shift in our lives, the best interests and welfare of our two children is and will be of utmost importance to us. We would appreciate that our privacy is respected throughout,” the statement read.

They got married in 2012 and later welcomed their daughters Radhya and Miraya in 2017 and 2019 respectively. However, Bharat’s absence from family gatherings and even with Esha in public outings had raised speculations about their separation.
