Bhumi Pednekar on how her mother gifts her a gold coin when she loves her performance: 'After watching Bhakshak...'
Bhumi Pednekar was recently seen in Netflix and Gauri Khan’s ‘Bhakshak‘, a film that throws light on the current state of journalism. Talking about the response the film has received, the actress shared a note and video and said, “We have to make a film free of all corruption and with all the right intentions. This one is beyond a hit or flop. It’s about how deep it affects you when you watch it.”
And now, she has penned a long note on how her mother reacted after watching the film. Sharing a picture with her, Bhumi wrote- “Mummy gives me a gold coin every time she feels I have grown as an actor. After watching Bhakshak, i remember how overwhelmed mom got and I somewhere knew I have another one coming my way. I remember the ride back home. No one spoke. Once we were home, samiksha started talking to me and there were just tears rolling down her eyes.”
She added, “She said – This film is beyond what it does for you, it’s about what it does for those children. We can’t fail them again.”
Bhumi is thrilled that Bhakshak puts a woman as the agent of change, as the shero, something that few Indian film-makers have done. A woman standing up for fellow women and protecting them by risking her life is what makes Bhakshak a successful entertainer.
