‘Every Kashmiri is a terrorist…’: Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah’s angry retort on Delhi blast
Abdullah stated that the perpetrators of this tragedy should receive the harshest punishment, but innocent people must be spared.
New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah strongly condemned the terrorist attack near the Red Fort in Delhi. He also said that it is wrong to label every Kashmiri as a terrorist or associated with them. He emphasised that not every resident of Jammu and Kashmir is a terrorist, and only a few individuals are trying to disrupt peace. Abdullah also said that it is shocking that even educated people are involved in terrorist activities and that strict action should be taken in such cases, but the innocent should be spared.
No amount of condemnation would be enough: Omar Abdullah
This statement by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah comes at a time when most of the suspected terrorists arrested in the Delhi car blast and Faridabad have been found to be residents of Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking to the media on Thursday, November 13, Omar Abdullah said that no amount of condemnation would be enough. No religion allows the killing of innocent people. Action is underway and investigations will continue, but we must remember that not every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir is a terrorist or supports terrorists.
‘Attempts to disrupt peace and harmony’
Omar Abdullah stated that only a few individuals have attempted to disrupt peace and harmony here. He also stated that when we view every resident of Jammu and Kashmir and every Kashmiri Muslim with the same ideology and assume that each one of them is a terrorist, it becomes difficult to keep people on the right path.
Omar expresses concern
Regarding the Delhi car bombing terrorists having professional backgrounds (including doctors), Omar Abdullah said that even educated people do not engage in such activities. He asked, “Have we not seen university professors before? I am shocked that they were fired, but what kind of investigation was conducted after that? Why was no prosecution launched?”
‘Harshest punishment for the guilty’
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated that the perpetrators of this tragedy should receive the harshest punishment, but innocent people must be spared. He reiterated that only a few individuals are responsible for the attack. Indeed, most of the suspected terrorists arrested during the Delhi car bombings and the uncovering of the Faridabad terrorist module are residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
