Faridabad terror update: Al-Falah University denies links to Muzammil and others in interstate terror module

Police on Monday arrested Muzammil Shakeel for possession of explosives. Later, a blast emerged near Delhi's Red Fort, whose suspected suicide bomber is Umar Nabi. The two worked at Al-Falah University.

Faridabad terror update: Al-Falah University denies links to Muzammil and others in interstate terror module

In the latest update, the UGC-recognised Al-Falah University has officially denied all the links with the arrested doctors in the interstate terror module case. It comes after the suspected suicide bomber in the Red Fort blast, Dr Umar Nabi, was known to be an assistant professor at Al-Falah University. In addition, another teacher, Dr Muzammil Shakil, was also arrested from his rented place in Faridabad.

Al-Falah University’s statement

The University, on Wednesday, gave its first statement: “They have no connection with the said [arrested/detained] persons apart from them being working in their official capacities with the University.”

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bhupinder Kaur Anand, stated, “We are deeply saddened and anguished by the unfortunate developments that took place and condemn the same. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the innocent people affected by these distressing events.”

It stated, “We have also learnt that two of our doctors have been detained by the Investigating Agencies. We wish to make it clear that the University has no connection with the said persons apart from them being working in their official capacities with the University.”

The university’s statement on rumours

The official notification read, “The University also notes with deep concern that certain online platforms are circulating baseless and misleading stories with the clear intent of maligning the reputation and goodwill of the University. We strongly condemn and categorically deny all such false and defamatory allegations,” adding, “It is hereby clarified that no such chemical or material, as is being alleged by certain platforms, is being used, stored, or handled within the University premises.”

Faridabad terror case

Police of Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir on Monday busted an interstate terror module case. During the investigation, a doctor from Faridabad was arrested, and harmful explosives were found in his possession. The doctor, Muzammil Shakeel, taught at Al-Falah University. Later, multiple others linked to the case were also arrested.

In parallel, a shocking blast happened near Delhi’s Red Fort. The suspected suicide attacker, Dr Umar Nabi, was also an assistant professor at the university.
