The protest was called by a group named Generation Z against the government of Peru’s President Dina Boluarte, who is facing widespread social unrest. Amid heavy police deployment, around 500 people gathered in the city.

As per the report by France24, one protester said, “Today, democracy is less than before. It is getting even worse—because of fear, because of forced extortion.” Meanwhile, another protester said that the Congress has lost its credibility because it lacks a mandate.
