The complaint alleges that the accused, Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati Partha Sarathi, used abusive language and sent obscene WhatsApp/SMS messages to female students pursuing PGDM courses under the EWS scholarship. Furthermore, attempts were made to establish physical contact. The complaint was filed on August 4, 2025, by Sri P.A. Murali, Administrator, Sri Sringeri Math and its properties.

What is the complaint?

On August 4, 2025, PA Murali, Administrator of Sri Sringeri Math, filed a complaint against the accused at the police station. The complaint also stated that some female faculty and administrative officials at the institute pressured the female students to comply with the accused’s demands. This resulted in mental and physical harassment of the female students.

Recording statements of girl students

During the investigation, statements from a total of 32 female students were recorded. Of these, 17 accused the accused of using abusive language, obscene messages, and physical contact. The students reported that when they protested, some faculty and administrative officials continued to pressure them. Police officials stated that the accused had used his influence over a long period of time to intimidate and pressure the students. This suggests that the case was not limited to a single incident but had been ongoing for a long time.

A case was registered at Vasant Kunj North police station under several sections, and an investigation began. Multiple raids were conducted at the scene and the accused’s home. CCTV footage from the institute was also reviewed. The accused remains at large during the investigation. Police recovered the NVR and hard disk from SRISIIM and sent them to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). Statements of 16 victim students were recorded before the Honorable JMFC, Patiala House Court, under Section 183 BNSS.

Verification of fraud and fake diplomatic numbers

During the investigation, it was also revealed that a Volvo car was parked in the institute’s basement. This car had a fake diplomatic number plate, 39 UN 1, and was being used by the alleged accused. The car was seized. Police stated that the matter is extremely sensitive and, keeping the safety of the students in mind, the investigation is ongoing. The accused is still at large. Police say efforts are underway to arrest him and he will be arrested soon.

Police stated that the evidence against the accused includes statements from the students, CCTV footage, forensic evidence collected from NVRs and hard disks. All of this evidence will play a crucial role in the investigation and legal action. The investigating officer stated, “We will ensure that the accused is apprehended through the judicial process and that legal action is taken based on the evidence.
