Notably, as many as 24 places in northern states such as Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh recorded temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius or above on Wednesday.

Heatwave Alert: Condition To Get Worst

According to the weather department, a rise of three to four degrees is expected in northwest India over the next few days.

Rainfall Alert: Red Alert Issued For Kerala

A Red alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for several parts of Kerala after torrential rains killed four people in the state. The alert has been issued for Alappuzha, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, and Idukki.

At least five people lost their lives as torrential rain lashed several parts of Kerala, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday sounding a red alert in five districts that are likely to receive heavy rainfall. According to the weather department, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Ernakulam were initially placed under an orange alert, but the IMD later upgraded the warning, predicting extremely heavy rainfall in isolated places there.

Rainfall Alert: Odisha Expected To Receive Rainfall

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recently announced a developing low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. According to their forecasts, this could result in rainfall across northern districts of Odisha. From what we understand, this weather system might move northeast and escalate into a depression by the break of May 24th.

There’s a particular mention about isolated regions in the Balasore district where heavy rainfall (somewhere between 7 cm and 11cm) is expected to start from May 24, and moderate rainfall will likely cover other northern districts in Odisha too. A word of caution has been issued to fishermen to restrain from setting sail on May 23 and 24 due to anticipated rough sea conditions.

Rainfall Alert: Delhi Weather Today

Delhi along with its neighboring locations grappled with relentless heatwaves in the daytime this Wednesday, which transitioned into robust winds at nightfall. Several regions witnessed their thermometers hitting the 45-degree Celsius mark, or even surpassing it.
The scorching heat led to a drop in water levels of the Yamuna River, within Delhi, disturbing regular water supplies. In connection to this, the AAP government pointed fingers at Haryana, alleging that the water cut-off prior to polling day was a politicized move.
