Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s debut series, has received positive and negative feedback from audiences. Trolls began to harass Sharmin Segal while performers like Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, and Aditi Rao Hydari received accolades for their strong performances. The Netflix series has sparked a discussion around nepotism. The important part is played by Sharmin Segal, the niece of SLB, as Mallikajaan’s daughter Alamzeb. After the program premiered, the actor started receiving hate comments and accusations that she was a product of nepotism. In a recent interview, Segal’s co-star in Heeramandi, Shruti Sharma, defended her.
Shruti Sharma on Sharmin Segal Being Trolled For Heeramandi
Shruti stated that she was unaware of Sharmin’s situation and that trolling is bad. Speaking to Pinkvilla, the Heeramandi actress said, “Honestly, I wasn’t aware that people were trolling her until now. I don’t know what audiences have liked or not liked about Sharmin, but I’ve seen her trying her best like everyone else on the sets. It doesn’t matter who’s being trolled, but trolling is a bad thing to do.”
“Criticism is one thing; healthy criticism is always welcome, but trolling is unacceptable. It is a very negative way of approaching anyone. It is a kind of mental harassment. If it is happening, I am very concerned for her right now, ” she added.
Netizens Hail Shruti Sharma in Heeramandi
Netizens swamped the social media websites to accolade Shruti Sharma for her role in Heeramandi. They dropped hearts, shared her pictures and wished she had more screen presence. Social media users also took a dig at SLB for casting his niece to play the role of Alamzeb. One of the users wrote, “Final thoughts on #Heeramandi : All that glitters is not gold. There’s no chemistry between Alamzeb and Tajdar, massive letdown.” Another user wrote, “#shrutiSharma, who I follow since India’s next superstars , acted so beautifully as saima, her expressions & acting was amazing,I would have absolutely loved if she has played Alamzeb, she would have brought a lot of depth to the character in terms of acting…”
Saima Over Alamzeb in Heeramandi
Tbh Saima with her expressions & natural look was more suited for character of Alamzeb than this plastic expressionless instagram influencer looking girl #Heeramandi pic.twitter.com/dGSDywy5yC

ngl alamzeb got the best entry scene in #Heeramandi the ckt had so much to it like she’s kind?!?!? saving saima despite being the daughter of mallikajaan, loves poetry, the ship trope was insane UGH AND sharmin segal’s voice is so pretty pic.twitter.com/VhcROyXd69

The most unrealistic thing in Heeramandi is when we’re told Alamzeb doesn’t do any riyaz, Saima sings better and thus Saima’s a threat, needs to be sold off etc etc then Alamzeb sings in Shreya Ghoshal’s voice

Watched #Heeramandi
They could have made it a 5 episode series, omitting the slow-paced love angle between Tajdar-Alamzeb
Saima should have been given the role of Alamzeb but #SharminSegal got the meaty role and no wonder why#SanjeedaSheikh is FABULOUS #HeeramandiReview

Mallikajaan’s biggest concern was saima stealing limelight of alamzeb guess what acteress shruit sharma really ate sharmin segal screen space, girle gave multiple expressions and really took the attention, if only Slb could recognize the real potential among the cast pic.twitter.com/iApTjCvW7Y
