‘I have never seen….’: Days after massive defeat in Bihar elections, Prashant Kishor explains reason why Jan Suraaj could not succeed

Patna: After maintaining a strange silence for days after Jan Suraaj party’s massive defeat in the Bihar Assembly Elections, Prashant Kishor has finally spoken. Speaking to a media house on the stunning defeat of his Jansuraj Party in the Bihar Assembly elections, the young leader has claimed there was “something fishy” in the voting process and that “many things don’t match”.

For those unversed, Jan Suraaj failed to win even a single constituency despite contesting in 238 out of 243 seats,, managing only 2 to 3 percent of the total vote. Almost a week after the results, Prashant Kishor has now shared his personal assessment of what went wrong.

In an interview with India(BHARAT) Today, the Jansuraj founder said the results did not match the ground response he witnessed during the Jansuraj Yatra. He claimed there was “something fishy” in the voting process and that “many things don’t match”, but admitted clearly that he has no concrete proof of vote theft. “Something definitely went wrong, but we have no evidence,” he said.

Kishor’s allegations against NDA government

Taking aim at the NDA government in Bihar, Prashant Kishor alleged large-scale distribution of money to women voters during the campaign. According to him, thousands of women were given up to Rs 10,000 each and were reportedly promised more after voting. He said he had never seen such a pattern of cash distribution during elections before.

Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party dissolves all organisational units

In another significant update after the massive failure in Bihar elections, the Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraaj Party dissolved all its organisational units, from the panchayat level to the state level, following the humiliating performance in the recently concluded Bihar polls.

“The party has assigned its senior leaders the responsibility of all 12 divisions of the state, where they will rebuild an effective and active organisational structure. This team of party leaders will hold extensive discussions to identify the reasons for the defeat and submit a report regarding leaders guilty of indiscipline or internal betrayal,” the party statement said.
