New Delhi: India(BHARAT) has several defence deals in the pipeline with Russia, including the much-needed fifth-generation stealth fighter jet. India(BHARAT) is also pursuing a major defence deal with the United States. Under this deal, India(BHARAT) is purchasing not only Javelin anti-tank missiles and precision-guided munitions, but also drones, radars, and ammunition. Meanwhile, on Thursday, November 20, India(BHARAT) signed a major agreement with France to jointly address defence challenges. Under this agreement, the two countries will work together to develop a number of defence equipment and technologies that have become crucial to meeting the challenges of future warfare.
Major Technology Deal Between India(BHARAT) and France
India(BHARAT) and France signed a technical agreement on Thursday to work together to develop, manufacture, and integrate various defence and security equipment with modern technology. An agreement was signed on Thursday between the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the French Directorate General of Armaments (DGA). The aim is to leverage the expertise and resources of both organisations to develop solutions to address future defence challenges.
Exchange of Equipment and Technology
According to information received from the Ministry of Defence, the plan is to collaborate within a framework for research, training, and testing. They will exchange knowledge to better utilise each other’s skills and knowledge in the defence sector. This agreement also includes the exchange of equipment, technology, and information. This means that any defence equipment developed through this process will be more powerful than that of its competitors.
Work on Aeronautical Platforms and Drones
The DRDO and DGA have decided to collaborate on defence areas. This includes defence equipment such as aeronautical platforms and unmanned vehicles (drones). Aeronautical platforms can be used for a variety of purposes, including telecommunications, broadcasting, and surveillance. Unmanned vehicles are also being used for attack operations and have become increasingly useful for tasks ranging from logistics to surveillance and reconnaissance.
Advanced materials development for various defence equipment, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, navigation, advanced propulsion, advanced sensors, quantum technology, space and underwater technologies are also part of this mutually beneficial agreement.
