India-born expert Ashley Tellis denies charges following arrest over top-secret documents, says…

Ashley Tellis: A top US scholar of India(BHARAT)n-origin, Ashley J Tellis, who was previously arrested for having some top-secret classified documents, has denied all the charges against him. The lawyers of Ashley have mentioned that the case filed against him will be fought powerfully.

The claims against Ashley suggest that the scholar had repeatedly met some officials from China at a restaurant. In addition, during one of his meetings, he had allegedly left a manila envelope behind. Tellis was born in Mumbai and had completed a PhD degree. He had completed a Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Chicago.

Who’s Ashley Tellis?

Ashley J Tellis, the US scholar, was born in India(BHARAT). He had studied at St. Xavier’s College, followed by acquiring a PhD degree. He completed his MA from the University of Chicago in the subject, Political Science. He led the US-India(BHARAT)-China policy circles with his voice.

He was arrested earlier this year under the charges of holding classified government files. Reports claim that he had even met some Chinese officials at a Virginia Restaurant. Ashley had a senior designation under the former US President, George W Bush.

What are the officials saying?

An FBI agent said that over 1,000 pages of top-secret documents were recovered from several locations. The US Attorney Lindsey Halligan highlighted the case’s gravity and said that they’re completely focused on protecting the people of the US from all foreign and domestic threats.

However, Ashley’s lawyers stated, “Ashley J Tellis is a widely respected scholar and senior policy advisor. We will be vigorously contesting the allegations brought against him, specifically any insinuation of his operating on behalf of a foreign adversary.”

What’s next?

The Justice Department mentioned that if Ashley gets convicted, he’ll have to face an imprisonment of up to 10 years. However, the department hasn’t directly talked about the meetings of Tellis with Chinese officials. The major highlight remains in holding top-secret documents.
