The notification, issued on Friday by the Directorate Customary of Abroad Trade, states that jute from Bangladesh may no longer be allowed into India via any land or sea ports, rather than the Nhava Sheva seaport in Mumbai. As per official sources, the restriction on jute and other Bangladeshi fibre merchandise has been performed with immediate plan.

On May 17, New Delhi had imposed restrictions on the entry of Bangladeshi apparel via its land ports. Rather then apparel, other merchandise from Bangladesh to Northeast India were also stopped via the land ports.
