India responds to Trump’s new H1B visa rules, says, ‘It will…’

New Delhi: US President Doland Trump has increased the H1B visa fee by 10 times to prevent India(BHARAT)n talent from entering the US. Following Trump’s decision, the India(BHARAT)n Ministry of External Affairs has now issued a response and announced its next steps. Under Trump’s decision, US companies will now have to pay up to Rs 88 lakh annually to attract talent from India(BHARAT). This means that companies will now be able to attract only selected talent to the USA.

What did the Government say?

Responding to the US decision, India(BHARAT)n Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the India(BHARAT)n government has seen reports regarding proposed restrictions on the US H1B visa programme. “We will now study the decision. It will impact the industries of both countries. We will always make decisions in the best interests of India(BHARAT)n talent,” he said.

Jaiswal said the government hopes US officials will be able to resolve these issues appropriately. India(BHARAT)n industry has already submitted a preliminary analysis clarifying some of the concerns related to the H-1B programme.

Policymakers will evaluate recent developments

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the mobility and exchange of skilled talent have significantly contributed to technology development, innovation, economic growth, competitiveness, and wealth creation in the United States and India(BHARAT). Therefore, policymakers will evaluate recent steps based on mutual benefits, including the strengthening of people-to-people ties between the two countries. Industries in both India(BHARAT) and the United States are partners in innovation and creativity, and they can be expected to consult on the best path forward.

Why is Trump’s decision causing a stir?

US President Doland Trump has increased the H1B visa fee by 10 times. This means that American companies will now have to pay Rs 88 lakh annually to the government to attract talent from India(BHARAT). This clearly indicates that Trump now wants to prevent India(BHARAT)n talent from coming to the United States. It should be noted that previously, 71% of talent had the opportunity to go to the United States, but this decision will now create difficulties. However, India(BHARAT) could reap significant benefits in the future.
