Operation Sindoor update: In a significant geopolitical development months after India(BHARAT) conducted ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan sponsored terrorism, killing more than a hundred terrorists, Moscow-based security strategist Alexei Mikhailov-Petrenko has supported India(BHARAT)’s claim of downing a Pakistani missile from a distance of 314 kilometers using the S-400 “Triumph” air defence system. Russia accepts role of S-400 air defence system in downing Pak plane
In the recent development, Petrenko has said that, as seen in the Russia-Ukraine war, the actions of S-400 air defence system are in line with proven capabilities. The Russian expert confirmed this a few days after India(BHARAT)n Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh shared details of the operation that took place on the night of May 9–10, 2025. Rejecting Western doubts, Petrenko described it as part of the S-400’s ‘area-denial’ strategy. He cited the incident in which the Russian S-300V4 system shot down a Ukrainian fighter jet from a distance of 217 km in Ukraine in 2022, saying that long-range interception is not an exception but a standard capability.
AWACS shot down from 314 km
According to Air Chief Marshal Singh, an IAF S-400 unit stationed in Punjab fired a 40N6E missile and targeted a Pakistan Air Force Saab 2000 “Arai” AWACS aircraft at a distance of 314 kilometers. The aircraft was flying over the Dinga area of Pakistan’s Punjab province. This action is being described as the world’s longest-range surface-to-air (SAM) kill.
“These were not coincidences, but highly precise military operations carried out under challenging conditions.
