New Delhi: Important update for anyone planning to visit a railway station in Delhi to drop off or receive friends or relatives. According to the reports, the sale of platform tickets has been suspended at all major railway stations in Delhi. The decision has been taken due to heavy crowding at the stations. To manage the crowd, the Railways has temporarily stopped selling platform tickets.

Experts are of the opinion that this move will curb unnecessary congestion and make it easier for travelers to move in and out of the stations. The Railways has taken similar measures in the past as well. It is important to note that this restriction will remain in place until November 11, 2025.

Platform tickets will not be available at New Delhi, Delhi Junction, Anand Vihar Terminal, and Anand Vihar Halt stations.

• Certain individuals are exempted from this rule.
• Those who come to the station to assist elderly people, persons with disabilities, illiterate individuals, or women are allowed to enter the platform even without a platform ticket.
• According to the Railways, this arrangement has been made for the safety and convenience of passengers.
• During times of heavy crowding, having too many people on the platform can pose a safety risk.
• Only those who genuinely need to assist someone—or who depend on someone’s help—are allowed to enter the platform.

Train tickets will continue to be available:

Passengers must note that this restriction applies only to the sale of platform tickets. There is no restriction on the sale of train tickets. Passengers can still purchase train tickets and travel as usual. This rule applies only to those who come to the station to receive or see off someone and need to enter the platform.
